Miriam
Hi there, friends!
My name is Miriam. I’m a beautiful black and tan gal with a vibrant Dachshund personality.
I showed up to the shelter with several mammary tumors and dental problems. Unfortunately, my owner was not able to provide the veterinary care I needed, which resulted in my shelter placement. Luckily, all of my tumors came back benign, and my medical team worked wonders! Now that I’ve recovered from treatment, I’m ready to find my forever family.
I’m looking for a home that will give me all the belly rubs and cuddles I desire. I love being close to my humans especially during bedtime. Plop me on your bed and I will burrow under the covers in no time!
Like many Dachshunds, I’m very food motivated, so I’m happy to follow your lead as long as there are treats involved. I’m a good little dog; housebroken, good on a leash, and friendly with other small dogs. I have not been tested with cats or children yet, but my foster believes I would be fine with them (and you can reach out and request a meeting if you please!).
I must admit, I can be a little talkative (hey, we can’t all be perfect) so I’m probably not a great fit for families living in apartments or condos. Otherwise, I’m the ultimate cheerful companion. Look at this face–you have to take me home!
Miriam is a 12-year-old Dachshund from Doxie By Proxy Rescue Inc. She’s spayed, vaccinated, potty trained, and ready to live the good life. Interested in adopting Miriam? Submit your application here.

Hewey
Hi, everybody!
My name is Hewey. I arrived at Red Dog Farm after being airlifted out of Asheville in 2024 following Hurricane Helene. I had several medical issues and underwent two major surgeries. The great news? I made an incredible recovery! I may be an older guy, but I’m a loveable goofball once I get to know you!
I’m a wonderful playmate with other dogs and I'm gentle with puppies. I’ll make a wonderful addition to your family. I've shown remarkable resilience and I'm excited to start my new life with my forever family. I’m ready to be your best friend. I just need you to bring you home!
Hewey is a mixed breed, estimated at 8 years old. He is generally healthy aside from typical "old guy" ailments which are easily managed with daily meds and a prescription diet (these can be covered by his sponsorship!).
